With great delight, I would like to let you all know that our very own poet, Mr Faruk Ahmed Roni, has been nominated for the Sammilito Sahitya & Sanskritik Parishad UK Literature Award 2024 for his tireless contribution to the field of literature, cultural activities, and his work for the community development. Faruk Ahmed Roni is a distinguished poet, writer, and creative director known for his profound contributions to literature. From an early age, Roni was drawn to the world of literature, and he has been writing poems, stories, songs, and plays since the 1980s.
Faruk Ahmed Roni has been in the UK for over 3 decades and has been writing extensively in both English and Bengali. Despite his remarkable contributions to literature, Roni prefers to maintain a reclusive persona, staying away from the public eye. His tendency to keep a low profile and his poised demeanour have always added to the mystique surrounding him, making his works even more intriguing to his readers.

Roni’s literary journey spans several decades, during which he has adroitly crafted works in both Bengali and English, bridging the cultural and linguistic divides with his unique voice. His writings are a deep reflection of the complexities of human nature, often exploring themes of identity, solitude and the upheavals of life

.Faruk Ahmed Roni’s contribution towards the promotion of literature and poetry for the enrichment of society is remarkable. He is the visionary founder of the literary magazines Shikor and Shanghati, and also established the Shanghati Literary Society in 1989, followed by Shikor in 1999. Through these platforms, Roni has played a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant literary culture and creating opportunities for writers and poets to showcase their work. He is the founder and the editor of Global Poet and Poetry and Shikor online journal. He has published numerous poetry collections, each reflecting his deep understanding of the human condition and his commitment to using poetry as a means of expression and connection.

কবি ফারুক আহমেদ রনি, একজন কবি সাহিত্যিক ও দক্ষ সংগঠক। আশির দশক থেকে তিনি কবিতা,গল্প, গান ও নাটক লিখে আসছেন। তিনি সাহিত্য জগতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রেখে আসছেন, বিশেষ করে বাংলাদেশ এবং বাংলাভাষী প্রবাসীদের মধ্যে যা গভীরভাবে অনুরণিত হয়।
প্রকাশনা ও লেখালেখির পাশাপাশি তিনি অনলাইন প্লাটফর্ম ‘শিকড়’, ‘গ্লোবাল পোয়েটস এন্ড পোয়েট্রি’র প্রতিষ্ঠাতা পরিচালক। ‘গ্লোবাল পোয়েটস অ্যান্ড পোয়েট্রি’ বিশ্বব্যাপী কবি সাহিত্যিকদের উৎসাহিত করার একটি প্রাণবন্ত প্ল্যাটফর্ম। যার সর্বশেষ সম্পাদকীয় কাজের মধ্যে ‘ শান্তির জন্য কবিতা’য় ৪৬ টি দেশের ১৭৬ জন কবি অংশগ্রহণ করেন।
তিনি শিকড় পাবলিশার্সের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা। এটি লন্ডন, ঢাকা এবং কলকাতা কেন্দ্রিক একটি প্রকাশনা সংস্থা। প্ল্যাটফর্মটির লক্ষ্য বিভিন্ন পটভূমির কবিদের সাথে সংযোগ স্থাপন করা এবং কাব্যিক অভিব্যক্তির জন্য একটি কাব্য নির্ভর স্থান তৈরি করা।
