Fading Existence

I linger in anticipation, indifferent,
Too weary, my soul disowned
by the expanse of dreams.
The abstract moon departs,
lifting its enchanting gaze,
Slowly, you seem to fade,
Fading like the shimmering waves
stirred on your lips.

Breaking faith, whole and unbroken,
Mystery’s dark hue trembles
My wounded consciousness.
Apathetic time drapes me
In a shroud of exhaustion,
Silence cements itself into
Your chest of stone.

If you dissolve into abstraction,
The world will unravel,
And grasshoppers will take birth in the sky.
Human faith will succumb
to a ruined reaction to temptation.

I long for you, entangled in the bewitching
allure of existence.
My life is but the decaying
Exile of my mortal desires.
