End of Disloyal Time

Dusk slipped silently into my home,
And I found myself
Within a shadow, a sultry black spirit.

My kin, my loved ones,
They sprint away
those in whose homes I once lit the lamps.
I called them my own.
I trusted, I gave them every breath
Yet they plundered my faith,
stripped my selfless heart.

Those who dream,
Then betray the dream
deceive in silence
They have no claim to virtue.
Nothing runs deeper than the sea,
But still,
My generosity ran deeper for you.

I was your quiet, humble friend,
and for a thousand years
I would’ve written to you
words of light and longing.
I wanted nothing.
But one day,
You will mistake the final truth
The truth of all things passing.

One day,
You’ll feel sorrow
like rain-heavy clouds.
But my house will shine
And the stars will shimmer
as they gather once more
In their eternal reunion.

Regret will wait for you,
Its shadow stretching
As time slips
between light and darkness.
The clock will strike
at the end
of disloyal time.
