This evening, I’ve made peace with
my unbidden conscience,
Drawn irresistibly toward you…
A forest doe leaping, her dance trembling my ribs,
Racing swiftly across some miraculous orbit.

You are the Mona Lisa lingering
in the depths of my dreams.

I cannot decipher you;
your silence cuts through me,
Yet I remain yearning, restless
in the storm of waiting.
Even as the collapse
of hope overtakes me,
Even as I am betrayed
by the swiftness of my own wonder.

The myriad joys of heaven
hold no allure for me.

I am steady, yet the colours of despair
blaze through nature,
Burning all to paint a rainbow
across the western sky,
Stirring the heart of the lover
As I rise, pushing through
the walls of inequity within you.

Your boundaries encircle
the essence of my being.

Do you sense it?
The gathering of relentless afflictions,
The trembling edge where creation
may collapse in pity’s name?
Do you hear it? The mountains shudder
with grotesque roars,
While the clouds, indifferent,
drift in their idle games.
And yet, all of this
only for you, only in your waiting.

Tonight, the city floods, Noah’s ark
anchored in the harbour of my heart.

Hurry, come, take my hand.
Gather faith, for with each moment,
I slip further into a rarity.
